Latest strikes updates as Unite threaten walkouts until summer after ministers’ talks with union break downThe Government is holding a series of talks with unions across sectors aimed at ending a wave of industrial unrest in the NHS and on the rail network.

So far, Rishi Sunak has refused to rule out a one-off payment to nurses in order to halt further industrial action but the Prime Minister has said he would not comment on “specifics”. The Health Secretary, Steve Barclay, is meeting health unions today, including the Royal College of Nursing , which put the chance of strikes being called off at less than 50 per cent.

Teaching unions are holding talks with Education Secretary Gillian Keegan ahead of announcements this week over whether their members will go on strike.last week that shut down large parts of the network.
