At a briefing held today, the government said flu cases are much higher than in previous years, with the number of people being hospitalised more than doubling compared to pre-Covid.

THE CHIEF MEDICAL Officer has told parents to keep children with flu like symptoms home from school “if possible”.

The HSE has said that they are seeing high levels of ‘flu and COVID-19 and although cases of RSV appear to be decreasing, the three respiratory viruses accounted for more than 1,200 hospitalisations last week. “The vast majority of respiratory illnesses can be treated successfully at home with over-the-counter medication. There is very good advice on the HSE website undertheweather.ie. However, parents should trust their instincts and seek medical attention if required,” she said.

It said increased funding for out of hours GP services and an increased use of overtime will also be deployed, while Health Minister Stephen Donnelly will ask the HSE to “source all available capacity from private hospitals”. Speaking to RTÉ’s News at One, the Health Minister said he discussed mask wearing with the INMO yesterday.

“I would also encourage people to keep up to date with their COVID-19 vaccines and please make an appointment for a booster if you are eligible,” she added. Mr Donnelly said the pressure on hospitals “is likely to get worse” as the HSE does not believe that the flu wave has yet peaked.Earlier an emergency medicine consultant has warned that lives are at risk in Irish hospitals due to unprecedented levels of overcrowding.Speaking to RTÉ’s Morning Ireland, Dr Peadar Gilligan, a consultant at Beaumont Hospital, said the health service simply does not have the number of beds it needs to cope with demand.

He recommended that patients be moved out of emergency departments and on to wards: “It’s safer to move one to two additional patients to each ward in the hospital, rather than treat the emergency department as though it has rubber walls.”

What a disgrace. And no demonstrations of even attempting to find a solution. This is what happens when you give school boys jobs that carry severe responsibility’s. A melt down in the health service. Watt should join him in total incompetence and resign. Money for jam.

This was caused by the lockdowns. Or more specifically the people that supported lockdowns. The people who are triple jabbed. The people that jabbed and are jabbing their children. The people that don't care about others when others disagree with them.

Vaccines working then I guess. Maybe not as intended:P

Majority probably vaccinated and boostered. Zero immune systems left from all the jabs 🤣🤣

And the mask wearing killed people’s immune systems as I still see most elderly walking around in fresh air wearing a mask because they are brainwashed and all of them with the mask day and night have caught something then can’t fight it

People are being seriously hurt by the jabs.

Compared to 2019, there were 2,331 lab confirmed cases of flu identified up to Christmas week. This is in contrast to 1,000 cases in 2019. Of the 2,331 cases, a total of 637 people were hospitalised which compared to 350 people on past figures.

CMO urges parents to keep children at home if unwellThe Chief Medical Officer has urged parents to keep children home from school and childcare facilities if they are displaying new symptoms of illness. Kids should go to school if they able. They are not to miss school to protect misspending in the health service. What an indictment on the HSE management class. €21,000,000,000 and they are asking the kids to stay at home from school. They missed enough already. CMOIreland No. Kids sniffle and cough all winter. Depriving them of further education after our shameful and cowardly school closures of 2020 and 2021, would be incredibly wrong. Here's an idea....Get GPs to do their actual job instead of just telling every parent that comes to them with a sick child to take them to hospital
