Most primary and secondary schools are reopening on Thursday after the Christmas break at a time when the health service is already under severe strain as a result of a combination of flu and Covid-19. The three respiratory viruses of Covid-19, flu and RSV accounted for more than 1,200 hospitalisations last week creating huge pressure on emergency departments and GP surgeries.

Prof Smyth said children should not go back to school if they display ‘flu like symptoms such as congestion, cough, runny nose or high temperature.

The news cycle 🥱

Keep ur child home but don't bring them to the hospital but we will still report you to tusla for absenteeism just like we did when we last advised you to keep your kids at home during the pandemic. Feck off.....oh and by the way stop in at your gp for the nasal spray!

load of bull, every kid in your family gets these respiratory problems 2 or 3 times some kids have the snotty noses all winter and you expect parents to get time of work

Cool, so who stays home to mind them because literally every kid I know has some sort of cough/cold/sniffle at the minute. Short of the government announcing a week long bank holiday, parents are low on options

Yes don't go to school. Stay away from the hospital. What other amazing advice do you have

I urge you to change the habit of a lifetime and actually do your jobs! It’s everyone’s fault but yours is worn thin!

First bit of constructive advice I’ve read on this platform since ‘23

Pretty Obvious..! Are they talking to Children or Adults..?

They said this during the plandemic and then all schools were ordered to report the parents to TUSLA who did exactly that, in accordance with government guidelines. How can we trust these people anymore?
