The tweet is blunt:"Dear neighbors please don't ever, EVER call the police to do a welfare check on me. PERIOD."
It's a sentiment some African Americans are expressing on social media and elsewhere since Atatiana Jefferson, a 28-year-old black woman, was shot and killed last weekend by a Fort Worth, Texas, police officer who was conducting a wellness check at her home. DJ Cunningham, a clinical psychology doctoral student in New Jersey, called Jefferson's fatal shooting an"eye-opener.
This is more then extremely sad… It’s tragic! But I have no idea whether people were black or white in this case and to me there is no difference; it’s their actions that make the person.
Stay alive😀
It wasn’t a wellness check. I thought this was a journalism company?
Their is a lot of trigger happy cops unfortunately, is not cause they bad people, is cause they not trained properly, being a police officer is very dangerous you dealing with the worse of humanity so takes a toll on yodu body and mind, better training and support helps
Oh look, making it about race again. Do you know how many white people are shot and killed in welfare checks? Tons. Especially if they're mental health care checks. It has nothing to do with race and you're only perpetuating this myth.
my theory is this do you think we have individuals in the police department that go beyond the call of duty just to respond so they allegedly did their job per say to prove their point... I mean go figure
It’s getting to the point to where we should require black police officers police their own culture. That way, there is no racial question to begin with. With the race card out of the question, investigators & THE PUBLIC can focus on the facts!
And as soon as someone dies the neighborhood will cry, why didn’t someone call the police?
