The NSW Health Minister has urged colleagues to back a bill decriminalising abortion in order to 'right a wrong' enacted in law more than a century ago. 9News

The NSW parliament will continue to debate a bill decriminalising abortion after a long day which saw anti-abortion and pro-choice activists rally in Macquarie Street.

But the draft legislation faced some resistance with Police Minister David Elliott and fellow Liberal MPs Tanya Davies and Kevin Conolly among those to voice their opposition in parliament. Health Minister Brad Hazzard has called for reforms to the current abortion bill which sees it as a criminal act.
