The group played 20 shows this year as part of their first roadwork since 2019, but last month preemptively canceled a summer European run while Wilson underwent a “medical procedure.” They were scheduled to return to the road July 30 in Cleveland as part of a handful of stadium shows with Journey and Def Leppard and had performances on tap through Dec. 15 in Las Vegas.
In a statement, Wilson, who just turned 74, revealed that she “underwent an operation to remove something that, as it turns out, was cancerous. The operation was successful and I’m feeling great, but my doctors are now advising me to undergo a course of preventive chemotherapy and I’ve decided to do it.”
“And so, my doctors are instructing me to take the rest of the year away from the stage in order to fully recover,” she continued. “To the ticket buyers, I really do wish we could do these gigs. Please know that I absolutely plan to be back on stage in 2025. My team is getting those details sorted and we’ll let you know the plan as soon as we can. Thank you all for the support. This is merely a pause. I’ve much more to sing.
Wilson closed her note by saying that “respectfully, this is the last public statement l’d like to make on the matter.”in their relationship dating back several years. They came back together late last year for a New Year’s Eve show in their Seattle hometown and a performance as part of the National Hockey League Winter Classic.
