Most Americans want lower health care costs, not 'Medicare for All' or Obamacare repeal

Washington may be obsessed with enacting "Medicare for All" or repealing Obamacare, but Americans have other priorities.

They want Congress to prioritize reducing health care costs and protecting those with pre-existing conditions, according to a Kaiser Family Foundation poll released Wednesday. Roughly two-thirds of respondents ranked lowering drug prices and continuing protections for those with pre-existing conditions as a top priority, while half want lawmakers to address surprise medical bills, the poll found.

GerberJody1 Well Obamacare repealed WOULD LOWER HEALTH CARE COSTS! DUH!

Obamacare, the so-called Affordable Care Act, jacked my family's premiums from $350 per month to $1,800 -- a 22.7% increase per year for 8 years. This has resulted in millions LOSING health care coverage, not gaining it.

I know if my father was rich he'd probably still be alive today. Lower the cost of medicines, lower the cost of treatments, they are LIFE SAVING. Yes you pay for everything, but you shouldn't have to decide between paying and staying alive or not having enough cashand dying.

Lower costs by enacting UniversalHealthcare UniversalHealthcareNow MedicareForAll

That’s exactly what Medicare for all will do, so great!

A surefire way to answer the question is to offer a PublicOption. Then 'most Americans' who are excited about their current job-entangled contentious insurance need not change. Who wouldn't support that concept? (*cough* insurance lobby)

True every American wants cheaper and better healthcare. However socialism isn’t the way to do that.

Every single govt program is broken. Let’s give them the key to it all. Real smart people. Real smart.

The only way we get lower health care costs, while keeping the insurance companies ‘private’, is regulating the crap out of them and our elected officials showing some serious testicular fortitude.

No kidding

I mean, if some nut case dem gets in anyway, ill go for medicare for all since our taxes will spike so high i wont be able to afford it otherwise, blind ass people on left don't realize nothing is free. blind to the asterisk on life.

Weren’t we assured that Obamacare would lower our premiums? It didn’t lower premiums by even $1.

CNN is bad at math.

Most want Osamacare repealed.

What do y’all really want?

Most Americans have employer based insurance and so they don't care about the people who don't. Until they lose their job or the employer insurance premium goes up to much, they just don't think about it. Imagine what you would do if your health ins wasn't tied to work.

Most Americans want everyone to have healthcare. Figure out how to do it. Seems as if most developed countries accomplished this basic right long ago.

Yes you can call it whatever you want, just need to do something differently and blaming Obamacare isn't it, costs have been rising for decades.

Since when did it matter what Americans want?

That happens through MedicareForAll...ask every other developed country.

Yes regulate the health care industry and lower the outrageous prices for everything! Don’t force us to get super expensive monthly insurance that doesn’t cover shit!

maybe we should DECRIMINALIZE DRUGS and PROMOTE HEALTHCARE FOR ALL

Yep. Insurance is not healthcare. How do people not get that ?

The poll isn't wrong. Most Americans want cost control. The problem is the private/for profit insurance industry has had 70 some years to reign in cost and has failed miserably. At the bare minimum we have to enact a Medicare buy in available to all citizens.

and they begin to eat their own. toolate

Who is MOST? What is your Most based on? Give us numbers.

No most American want socialized medicine. Because the drug companies and the doctors are out of control with greed. It’s a money grab

Will Medicare for All lower their costs? If so then that's what they want. How did that escape you?

If this was possible, why wasn't it done under Obama's term with an all Dem super majority in congress? That was less than 10 years ago. As far as I know, the healthcare industry wasn't thriving with low Rx costs then Sounds like boomer bullshit to me

Medicare for all will lower health care costs you silly geese

you have no clue what Americans want. RepealACA

The poll was done by a for-profit healthcare company. This is deeply disingenuous from

American here I want MEDICARE FOR ALL

Those people are dreaming if they think lower costs will happen automatically without a major movement such as the ACA (properly implemented as intended) or Medicare for all.

I think it’s funny that Obamacare was supposed to lower costs. And it did not. I wonder why CNN isn’t digging into this policy failure of Obama’s?

The government, state and local as well as feds, actually belive that Suboxone is a remedy to reduce/eliminate opioid addiction. Suboxone, has at this time become a deadly street drug. STOOPID

Wow sound’s very socialist to me ,,, I am quite happy with my insurance ,, do not think we should just be giving it to everyone who ask’s or the lines will be longer at the doctor and I have quite a bit to do as I am now retired

mynbc15 Yeah..most Americans don’t want a bunch of free shit

That's impossible. You can't have both unless we will have a major breakthrough in medical AI and DNA adjust medicine. Watch for Japan.

Once again discrediting Medicare for All, despite obvious widespread support. Either way, once a Progressive is in the White WhiteHouse, all Americans will benefit, including those who don't see the benefit now.

Obamacare was the worst.

I wasn’t polled. I want a single payer system. What we have is too confusing and way too expensive. MedicareForAll

We ask a health insurance company about a poll they made whether they should stay in business. Kaiser Journalism

Yeah, ya know, 'healthcare reform,' as it was once called.

The only reason they shy away from medicare for all is because of the scare tactics used about socialism. Fearmongering at it's best! Instead of creating a system that is set up to help everyone, they buy into the fear. We have to change minds.

it's not going to happen until we get big pharma out of congress' pocket

I just want to be able to afford my wife's medicine without worrying about being able to keep the electricity on.

most americans want free lunches and unicorns

How can 'most Americans' know how real healthcare works when there was none for like forever?! We in Europe have health care and it is by far the best health system there is in Germany. Learn and adopt. And maybe improve ... :-)

MFA would lower costs

Breaking news: consumers want to pay less

Most Americans have been tricked into thinking there's a capitalist option for containing healthcare costs? Shocking...

Obamacare is one of of the many tools of the devil

Stop eating garbage food. Healthcare costs would plunge.

None of these is going to happen

$1 medications please
