For many people who struggle with anxiety and depression, it's a huge challenge to find a therapist they can afford. Now, a growing group of apps, including Talkspace and The Difference, are using technology to improve access.

Starting this summer, you'll be able to talk to a therapist through Amazon Alexa. For the many people who struggle with anxiety and depression, it's a huge challenge to find an affordable therapist. Now, a growing group of apps, including Talkspace and The Difference, are looking to solve the problem by using technology to improve access.

"Digital mental health" involves using smartphones, the web, and even Amazon Alexa for consults. But some question whether the virtual approach is it right for every patient, particularly those with more serious mental health conditions. Mental health professionals told CNBC that these apps are helpful for managing surface-level problems, but that the scientific research is inconclusive on whether they can replace in-person visits.

Bitch just eat cookies

No shortage of libs in therapy. They overthink everything.

Aren’t you tired to sale? Another fantasy? Another therapist? So why everybody is so sick and with anxiety all over. Help yourself. Read this document. Maybe it’s long, but it will give you the truth.

Mental health access needs to be opened up, it’s really sad when you’re on Medicare and there’s only one place in your town that will accept you and it’s one with a known reputation to be bad.

The one problem with these apps is that they hire very low experienced therapists and the quality of care is terrible at times. You will see that these services will do more harm than good through ill informed advice. In essence, you get what you pay for.

I have to say that I'm very skeptical of this new form of therapy. It's so impersonal and you can't build trust with someone talking through a machine. It can take time finding the right therapist or counselor, but it's the same for any doctor also. This would cause more harm.😓

Don't use these apps. Their will be no medical privacy and a complete record of what you say. It will then be used to enforce red flag laws.

Depression and anxiety within social environment which create negative impact on mental and behavioral set of a person, are due to failure in way of thinking from surrounding activities. Therapy in digital form would be a solution for a human not willing to think productively.

Seems like it could deprive the patients of the privacy which most therapist require for their clients. Health insurance companies have already been moving to destroy client privacy so maybe it’s just the road we’ve choosen🙄💸

Amazon Alexa is luring health developers, but it will be a while before we use it to call a doctorAlexa is now offering medical skills, but don't expect to be able to call a doctor or therapist using the device anytime soon. Yeah I’ll just use my phone to call a doctor it's an absolute brilliant idea including calling a doctor. it would be nice to contact a doctor and not an answering service taking a message. especially when WebMD doesn't have the answers we need.👍 When will they stop spying on people?

There’s a mental health crisis among doctorsDepression among doctors is more common than we may think, and it starts in medical school, says primary care physician Elisabeth Poorman. Dr. Poorman joined THINK to talk about the “cloud of silence” around mental illness in medicine and how it’s a byproduct of a dysfunctional healthcare system. THINK Noticed this is an opinion factual numbers of doctors that have committed suicide and a year over year chart would work to see increased or decrease in this horrific subject dr poorman thank you for starting a robust debate THINK Maybe they should stop prescribing themselves drugs along with the needless prescriptions they so quickly prescribe to patients b/c of the kickbacks they get THINK So why do doctors make time to lecture about GunControl when medical errors kill more Americans? They need to admit they are overworked.
