Vape cartridges without nicotine content will be regulated by the domestic trade and consumer affairs ministry.

PETALING JAYA: All vape cartridges and related products containing nicotine must be registered with the health ministry. The ministry said this is to ensure that the products fulfil safety regulations before they can be distributed to the public.“Only cartridges containing nicotine which are registered can be distributed by medical practitioners as a treatment for their patients or by licensed pharmacists,” the ministry said in a statement today.The Act provides for imprisonment of not more than three years or a fine of not more than RM25,000 or both, if the offender is an individual.

Yesterday, health minister Dzulkefly Ahmad said a bill to control all tobacco-related products and e-cigarettes, and to enforce the no-smoking zone ruling is expected to be introduced by the end of this year.
