Island Health disputes B.C. doctor's claims that suspension is in retaliation to public criticism

A Port Hardy, B.C., doctor has been temporarily barred from practicing emergency medicine in the Island Health region.

Nataros says his suspension has other doctors scrambling to staff the two emergency departments that he works at in Port Hardy and Salt Spring Island, B.C. "Because of Dr. Nataros' misleading statements, because he has made this issue public in a very false way, I have to provide this information to you," he told CTV News.

Nataros says he believes the patient complaint was "coerced" and written by an Island Health official.

Dr. Nataros was my family dr. & he prescribed lifestyle change/diet before drugs. He was a compassionate and caring physician. I trust him over adriandix and VanIslandHealth. The issue is gross mismanagement, not a shortage of money. bcpoli bchealth

Sounds like you haven’t gotten the whole story. Why was he bringing his dog to work in a hospital? Was he? What do other at the hospital say?

Very cool and very legal. The public needs to call for senior management to resign or be fired ASAP. This has moved beyond acceptable. Senior leadership of all BC health authorities need to held responsible and accountable for this dereliction of duty.
