The Ford government has been blasted by opposition parties of late over emergency room closures, and over the weekend, there were concerns that 20 emergency rooms or more could shut down.

She said that there are times when hospitals are aware of a staffing shortage in advance, and in those instances, officials can work with the hospital to find solutions. In other instances, the shortage is sudden due to staff needing to self-isolate over COVID concerns.tap here to see other videos from our teamThe minister said that she and the Ford government are seized with the issue and looking for short-term and long-term solutions.

“We already have 10,500 additional health-care workers already working in the system,” Jones said, giving full credit to her predecessor Christine Elliott.That doesn’t mean allowing anyone trained as a nurse in another country to work here, but to speed up the process to get those who meet Ontario standards working quickly, while offering additional training to those who don’t meet the qualifications.
