Regularly, the great and the good from the worlds of business, media and politics tell us that we will have to learn to “live with the virus”. In the strictest sense, they are right, because the coronavirus that causes COVID-19 will be with us forever. But what does “living with the virus” mean?
The fractured logic within Hrdlicka’s comments – it won’t be serious but will also kill some of us - captured the confused thinking that still prevails when it comes to what Australia will do once we get past the current stage of dealing with COVID-19, which is to throw taxpayers money at all the problems it’s causing while keeping our borders closed.Victorians are living with this reality right now.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison has defended the hotel quarantine system because it is 99.9 per cent effective. That number is more a figure of speech than anything else – an acknowledgement that in every program you’ll always have something go wrong. The unfortunate flaw with the concept of a 99.9 per cent effective quarantine system is that the 0.1 per cent failure rate does not stay at that number once the virus starts doing its exponential infection work in the community.
We need proper quarantine facilities not a hotel/motel ffs 🤦♂️

The writer conveniently ignores Hard Liquor’s caveat about deaths from COVID “but it will be no worse than the flu”

We need a Road map from the Morrison Government Quarantine facilities Workable vaccine rollout
