"We were being straight with people about what happened and the inquiry has borne that out," he told radio station 2GB.

Shuttle car driver Julie Lamrock, who is still suffering serious health problems after contracting the virus from a Ruby Princess passenger she picked up from Circular Quay, said the report should prompt an apology from the state government.Labor leader Jodi McKay said those affected as a result of NSW Health's failings should not have to wait until next week for Ms Berejiklian to address the findings.

"A decision should have been made that pratique would not be granted until all test results were known," Commissioner Walker wrote in the report. Of the 1682 passengers from Australia, 663 ultimately contracted COVID-19. There have been at least 28 deaths in connection with passengers from the Ruby Princess, including 20 deaths in Australia and eight in the United States.

LisaVisentin so ridiculous. the people on the cruise, caught the virus-- ON THE CRUISE! Surprise surprise. They didn't catch it because of anything NSW health failed to do- they caught it because someone got on the boat with it. Why aren't these idiots investigating that?

LisaVisentin Why are all those brilliant QCs ignoring the fact that most of these people caught it on a cruise way before it docked in Sydney? Someone got on the boat and spread it whilst it was at sea. That's not a NSW or Border Force issue. That's just shit happening and no-ones fault.

LisaVisentin We will be waiting a lot longer for someone senior to resign over it

NSW Premier acted 'too slowly' initiating Ruby Princess inquiry | Sky News AustraliaNew South Wales Labor leader Jodi McKay has praised Brett Walker SC for his ability to pull together a report on the ill-fated Ruby Princess despite the “rushed” nature of the Special Commission of Inquiry into the Ruby Princess. \n\nThe findings of the inquiry are due to be handed down today to the NSW government following an investigation into why 2,700 passengers were allowed to disembark the cruise ship in Sydney on March 19 without undergoing coronavirus testing. \n\nMs McKay told Sky News Premier Gladys Berejiklian acted too slowly in launching an investigation into the debacle as she launched a police investigation first. \n\n“That wasn’t going to get to the heart of protocols being breached,” she said. \n\nShe said Labor supported the push for an inquiry as it was “one of the most significant public health episodes that we’ve ever had here in NSW”. \n\n“This is not about necessarily blaming different agencies, it’s about understanding who is responsible and ensuring this never ever happens again,” she said. \n\nImage: News Corp Australia JodiMcKayMP Yes Jodi, at least Brett Walker SC is getting answers and accountability for the Ruby Princess debacle.
