$10k 'cancer scammer' who said she'd had ovaries out caught on getting pregnant

Kellie Kuhnel Walker’s alleged fundraising lies about having her ovaries removed were busted after she fell pregnant

An alleged fraudster accused of conning well-wishers out of $10,000 by claiming to have ovarian cancer was caught out after getting pregnant, police say. Kellie Kuhnel Walker, 28, was arrested at Fresno-Yosemite International Airport in California Thursday, after she reportedly lied about having her reproductive organs removed.

Walker is said to have told loved ones that she’d been diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2014. They rallied to help, and set up a GoFundMe page which raised $10,000 for treatment. The deception allegedly saw Walker have friends and family drive her to hospital for treatment. She is also accused of writing letters to potential donors explaining the grueling chemotherapy treatment she was undergoing, and asking for cash to help pay for it. But Walker’s alleged deception unraveled after she got pregnant, despite claiming to have had treatment that would have left her permanently infertile.A concerned relative reported the pregnancy to police last year, triggering a lengthy investigation which culminated in Walker’s arrest earlier this week.
