Smaller studies investigating a possible link between talcum powder and cancer have had conflicting results, though most found no connection.
These kinds of observational studies cannot determine cause and effect, and O'Brien said a more rigorous study isn't likely to be done. That would require randomly assigning a large group of women to use talc powders over many years, and comparing the results with those who didn't use powders. Those results were weak and are murky at best. Still, O'Brien said they make the overall findings “very ambiguous.”
On Monday, an unusual mid-trial settlement was announced in an Oakland, California, case involving a woman who claimed asbestos in the powder caused her mesothelioma, a cancer that can affect the lungs and other organs. J&J spokeswoman Kimberly Montagnino declined to disclose terms or reasons for the agreement but said it “in no way changes our overall position that our talc is safe, is asbestos-free and does not cause cancer.
Key word, “strong.”
LeslieMarshall But it is linked to a decrease in my chaffing
Of course not. Talcum powder has been in use for over a 100 years, millions of people have used it for various reasons. To smell better, stop chafing, etc. Lawyers are always looking for the BIG ONE for big bucks. I am sick and tired of sensational news.
LeslieMarshall US government or 45* sycophants? Because they all lie. We can’t believe word from that claque.
Yea but who funded the research? Johnson & Johnson?
🙄
Because they took the asbestos out in the last few years
Sorry, but I can't believe anything that is put out during this administration.
No shit.
“Big study finds”
No one trusts anything the government says anymore. Stay away from baby powder. Better safe than sorry.
All of them Ambulance chasing lawyers will be disappointed.
then why does Johnson & Johnson keep losing in court?
Asbestos is perfectly healthy.
but the weak cancer link still holds strong
