The Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court has set Dec 5 and 6 to examine complaints of ill-treatment by prison authorities by two men charged with alleged links to banned terror group Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam .
The complaints were from a grocer B Subramaniam, 57, who was charged with supporting the LTTE, and scrap metal collector A Kalaimughilan, 28, who was charged with having in possession items linked to the group.She said both the accused recorded their complaints on camera on Nov 1. “After hearing their complaints, the court is satisfied that there is an offence for action to be taken under Section 128 of the Criminal Procedure Code," she said.
The prosecution was represented by deputy public prosecutor Low Qin Hui, while the two accused were represented by S. Selvam. On Nov 1, counsel MV Yoges, representing Kalaimughilan, told the court that his client had complained that he was mistreated at the Sungai Buloh Prison, where he was not given a pillow and mattress to sleep on. -
