Tens of thousands of homes and businesses have been affected by the notice, which has been in place since Monday.
The Environmental Protection Agency is due to carry out an audit today on the facility and will take samples to see what condition the water is in. However, an EPA spokesperson has said this audit does not automatically mean the boil water notice, which is the second in two weeks, will be lifted. Irish Water has said engineers are looking at making the plant more resilient during times of adverse weather.
It says its current priority is to "protect the health of customers" who are supplied by water from the facility.
