HoustonChron We as a society loves to penalize each other rather than examine other viable rationale for why a person does what she or he does. We need to show empathy to each other plights in life. Mother almost lost her baby when she was born...this caused her to overreact to any symptom.
HoustonChron Dr. need to be more discerning...for if she was a mother that almost lost her child at birth...& neglected that child ailment then we will be labeling her as unfit because the question would remain how could you ignore symptoms when this baby was born with a lot of complications.
HoustonChron It seems like the mother loved her baby & was overly concern about her health. The doctor should have spoke with her about being overly protective & offer her opportunity for counseling. This woman is not a criminal..she is a mother that overreached in an abundance of caution
HoustonChron Is it possible that the mother out of excessive concern constantly took her baby to the hospital for treatment after the baby was born so premature and had a lot of issues when born? I think the mother was overly protective since her baby was born so small.

HoustonChron It is just as reasonable, if not moreso, that the symptoms were side effects of the drugs and procedures that saved her life. Unbeknownst to Mom, they became a self perpetuating condition, which she faithfully treated.

HoustonChron Why is medical abuse ever considered at the hands of the parents? If a doctor prescribed something, then the doctor is culpable. There is a default in the medical field not to believe a patient, especially women and poc, you need to strongly advocate for yourself or child.

HoustonChron Working in a university hospital, I observed MD's to be impatient with inexplicable cases; very impatient with 'difficult' family members which could just mean people who ask too many questions or are visibly distressed. MD's can be very psychologically naive and ill-informed.
