Lawmakers are trying to set aside their irreconcilable differences over the Obama-era Affordable Care Act and work to reach bipartisan agreement on a more immediate health care issue, lowering costs for people who already have coverage.

Returning from their Fourth of July recess, the Senate and House are pushing to end surprise medical bills, curb high prices for medicines, and limit prescription copays for people with Medicare.

In the Senate, Republican Lamar Alexander has shepherded bipartisan legislation on surprise medical bills through the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee that he leads. That bill also would raise the legal age for buying tobacco products to 21. "The public demand for action is high on both sides of the aisle and I'm sure these guys are feeling it," said John Rother of the National Coalition on Health Care, an umbrella group that represents a cross section of business and consumer organizations.

A signal of whether inflation rebates have political traction could come within a couple weeks when senators are expected to offer a bipartisan compromise. The chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, and the committee's top Democrat, Oregon Sen. Ron Wyden, are trying to get a deal to reduce drug costs for federal programs and the people they cover. A senior GOP aide said rebates are under consideration.

This is nothing but a political play by both parties to try to stop Medicare for all. Whether Dem or Republican, you can be sure they have their 'fingers in the pie' of health insurance companies.

SURE!!

Damn Dems

Instead of Bipartisan why not work to what is best for the citizens you represent and not the party you represent.

Here is big pharma and insurance industry's future lobbyists.

You mean they are working? That won’t last long!!!! And it won’t go anywhere!!!

Cost is everything. Deductible is everything. Premium is everything. Congress Senate should pay their own way. They make 3× the avg american. We would be fired going to work and doing nothing. ACA key word affordable. Good for some not for most. Why do we trust these fools.

Ah yes....the usual Liars & Fools....

About time, why the urgent push,oh yeah, it's an election year

Really? Then why has California just passed a law that penalizes it’s citizens who don’t purchase healthcare similar to Obamacare? Then giving illegals free healthcare st the same time.

Yes! Protect our criminals who are skimming favoring insurance companies. I have an idea. I challenge Congress to change to Obama Care. What do you say? Come on. Let see how sincere you are. Let see how much faith you have in Obama Care. Remember it's the Affordable Care Act. Not

Obamacare turned the grandson of one of my friends gay! Nothing wrong with that, but my friend was raised in a different time and is shocked!

With this group its more like fk America
