The children, aged 13, and 14, have been confirmed dead after being taken to hospital this morning, said South Yorkshire Police.
Speaking at the scene in Shiregreen, Superintendent Paul McCurry, said: ‘They are conscious. They are being given the necessary care that they need.A man, 37, and a woman, 34, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in custody.The property in Gregg House Road is cordoned off this morning following reports at around 7.30am of concerns for the safety of them at a property on Gregg House Road.
Superintendent McCurry said called it a ‘tragic set of circumstances’, adding: ‘I am aware of wider speculation regarding the use of weapons.It is not yet known what condition the other children are in Detective Chief Inspector Simon Palmer, said enquiries are ongoing in the cordoned off area, while they try to ascertain the exact circumstances around the incident.
‘A 37-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection and remain in custody at this time.’
