A football-daft Alexandria teenager battling a rare disease has been left gutted at being unable to get a game.
Now, with the backing of his doctor and teachers at Kilpatrick School, where Aaron is a pupil, he’s determined to take up football - with the dream of becoming a manager.“It means a lot to me and I would really like to play in a team.“I just want someone to give me a chance to show what I can do.” However the week after Aaron’s training, Riverside contacted Lisa to say they had wellbeing concerns. She said now hopes that another side might now feel prepared to sign Aaron - with full backing from his medical team.
“He’d want it to be for people like him; autistic children, children with Down’s Syndrome and all different conditions who are physically capable of walking and running.“He said he doesn’t want to join a wheelchair team, he wants to be able to run on the pitch whilst he is still able to.” The spokeswoman added: “As a club we have a duty of care to everyone involved. And other players and coaches had questioned what would happen if the ball struck Aaron’s tracheostomy and dislodged it.
