A house must be built on a strong foundation. This is also true for interventions designed to improve population mental health, ensuring timely access to best-in-class mental health care for all those who require it. The foundation for better mental health outcomes is mental health literacy.
An initial important step has been supported by the Public Health Agency of Canada in the development of a national repository of these interventions so that those responsible for applying mental health literacy applications can choose the ones that have already demonstrated effective impact, and avoid others that may be enthusiastically promoted but have not been scientifically validated.
