The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) has issued a warning following a number of cases of invasive meningococcal disease (IMD) in recent weeks

A health alert has been triggered following the detection of a potentially fatal disease in several countries, including the US, Norway, and France. The invasive meningococcal disease , which can lead to death within 24 hours, has been reported in individuals returning from Hajj in Saudi Arabia.

Charity Meningitis Now warns that up to 10% of cases of meningococcal disease can be fatal. Symptoms to watch out for include fever, vomiting, sleepiness, confusion, and sometimes a rash.
