The expansion includes adding 21,000 square feet of facilities, a multi-story medical tower with 52 beds and the expansion of the emergency waiting room.DOTHAN, Ala. - The Houston County Health Care Authority recently approved a multi-million expansion project for Southeast Health Medical Center.

The four-phase Emergency Department expansion project is estimated to cost slightly more than $25 million which includes:Increasing treatment spaces from 32 to 66 to accommodate up to 75,000 visits annually.Adding a CT Scanner and a satellite Laboratory to improve patient flow and efficiency.Expanding the waiting area to allow seating for 100 patients and guests.

The Emergency Department at Southeast Health Medical Center cared for 53,110 patients in the 2023 fiscal year and are projected to see 58,000 in 2024. With this new expansion, the hospital will have the capacity to see approximately 75,000 patients annually.
