Brooke Army Medical Center has a long history of treating civilian patients, as it’s one of two trauma centers here in San Antonio. However, once patients receive life-saving care, they often face another problem: paying for it.

Congressman Joaquin Castro has written a couple of amendments to the National Defense Authorization Act which if passed would relieve financial strain for patients who have been billed by BAMC and the Department of Defense.
