The community gathered on the corner of Schillinger Road and Airport Boulevard to raise awareness about childhood cancer and defeating the disease.

) - Racers took their marks on Saturday at the area’s first-ever remote-control car race benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The main event was the remote control car racing in seven different race classes and a chance to win a remote control car from Hobbytown. The Mobile Hobbytown store, which opened in May 1994, specializes in hobbies, toys and remote-controlled vehicles. All proceeds were donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, a medical center that works to find laboratory breakthroughs into lifesaving treatments for children from across the United States and around the world.Two Mountain Brook girls injured in Friday shark attack in Walton County, Florida
