BELOVED doctor Michael Mosley transformed the lives of millions and popularised the 5:2 diet used by stars in his glittering 20-year TV career.His 1990s BBC Two series Trust Me, I'm a Doctor set him on a trajectory to becoming a household name before his Horizon documentary Eat, Fast and Live Longer popularised the 5:2 diet.
Proponents of the diet included then-Chancellor George Osborne, who lost two stone, and singer Beyoncé who was said to utilise the plan.Dr Mosley was born in Calcutta, India, in 1957 to British parents, "just as a new, deadly strain of influenza virus known as Asian flu emerged from China", he told the BBC.“For a while it was touch and go. My blood, 55 years on, still shows traces of antibodies, proof that young though I was, I was able to fight it off,” he said.
Dr Mosley switched his attention to medicine, studying at Royal Free Hospital Medical School, now part of UCL Medical School from 1980.
