“I am nominating Deirdre Hargey to step in as economy minister on an interim basis pending Conor’s return.” Ms Hargey represents Belfast South in the Northern Ireland Assembly after being co-opted to replace Máirtín Ó Muilleoir in 2020. She served as Minister for Communities from 2020 to 2022, and previously had been Lord Mayor of Belfast from 2018 to 2019.
