Opposition leader Bill Shorten has announced that under Labor, Australians diagnosed with cancer will ‘battle without going broke’ with the $2.3 billion Medicare Cancer Plan.

Mr Shorten delivered his budget reply on Thursday night, revealing Labor’s plan to invest $600 million towards eliminating all out-of-pocket costs for diagnostic imaging like CT scans, PET scans, mammograms, X Rays and ultrasounds. The plan includes $433 million to cover specialist consultations for cancer patients. The Labor leader also announced the Affordable Medicine Guarantee, where every cancer drug recommended by independent experts will be listed on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme.

KevinHillier For fucksake where you people get a life

KevinHillier Seriously? A political move which is to help every 1 in 3 Australians? Sure, it's an election promise, and yeah, it is. Have you considered the reasoning behind it that people who aren't well off are condemned to death otherwise if they can't afford it? Shane on you all.

KevinHillier Definitely a tack ScoMo should take to an election. People will love it 😂😂😂

KevinHillier Seriously can u guys get any more lower!

KevinHillier i reckon that the libs/nat would love to get rid of medicare altogether..remember malcolm fraser did just that and we ALL had to join private health funds. it's not in their ideology to have a social system such as medicare and anything else that the govt has to fork out for.
