Opposition leader Bill Shorten is expected to promise lower taxes than the Coalition for nearly three million workers when he delivers his Budget reply on Thursday evening. Should it come into power, Labor says 10 million Australians will receive equal or greater tax cuts, and nearly three million low paid workers will receive a substantially bigger relief.
Mr Shorten says his cuts are just one promise that proves Labor is the party 'for working mums and working families'. The Labor leader is also expected to announce a $400 million boost to superannuation, and universal preschool for three and four-year-olds. The speech is also expected to include a major health announcement ahead of what is set to be a Medicare-based election campaign.
