April is Family Strengthening month and a time to raise awareness about ways our community can prevent child abuse and neglect. Child abuse and neglect is less

by Utah Department of Health and Human Services likely to happen when families are strong. Communities can support families by providing resources and services that strengthen family bonds. We can all learn about what resources and services are available to help families and share that information with those we love.

One resource available for fathers is the Fathers and Families Coalition of Utah. The coalition’s Nurturing Fathers program provides men with parenting skills about healthy relationships and child development.Families are strengthened when fathers are active participants in their families' lives. Maternal health outcomes improve and infant mortality decreases when fathers are present at childbirth.

The Nurturing Fathers program is an evidence-based program designed for fathers and taught by trained professionals, who are also fathers.Helps men better understand themselves, so they can be a role model for their children.Teaches fathers how to successfully implement these ideas over the long-term, so they can be the father they want to be.
