Trump’s own health and human services secretary and attorney general reportedly opposed the move, as did Republican congressional leaders. In fairness, it’s a near-impossible task, assuming terrific-ness requires adhering to Republican principles; fulfilling Trump’s promises to protect those with preexisting conditions and guarantee “everybody” gets covered; and not producing a near-facsimile of Obamacare.
Trump and his co-partisans have now explicitly committed to protecting another of those “legs” — preventing insurers from denying coverage or raising premiums for those with preexisting conditions — at least in rhetoric, though not in practice.
$6000+ deductible with a $1000+/month premium for an HMO plan that many doctors will not accept. No thank you! Better strategy -

As a Gop’r I’d like to see an unregulated national private insurance market backed by a public option to buy into Medicare based on income for those not served by the private market due to health, accessibility, or income. A grand compromise.
