Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden has recalled the moment she nearly died after she developed sepsis during her cancer battle.
However, during her first bout of chemotherapy, her body went into septic shock. Speaking to Andy Coulson's Crisis What Crisis? podcast, Amy said she fell unconscious and was close to dying due to the severe infection, reports the Mirror. She had been rushed to hospital after collapsing at home - and despite her husband Ben and her parents had been assured by doctors that she would be able to return home - Amy's condition deteriorated the following day after she developed sepsis.
Amy, a professional dancer on Strictly Come Dancing, continued: "My husband said that he'd said my heart rate and my blood pressure was so low that I probably wouldn't function more than sixteen hours, my organs would go into failure. They felt I'd gone into septic shock." However, Amy started to respond to a new batch of antibiotics but recalled how difficult it was to see the trauma on the faces of her parents.
In February the Welsh star revealed that there was now 'no evidence of disease' and that it was 'time to look ahead'. She said she will not receive the "all clear" for five years due to her type of cancer, and that during that time she will continue to receive monthly injections and regular check-ups.
