A total of 16,065 complaints were made by patients and service users during 2022, representing an increase of five per cent from the previous year.
Voluntary hospitals, which include Beaumont, Crumlin Children’s Hospital and National Maternity Hospital on Holles Street, were the subject of 7,300 complaints last year – an increase of 23 per cent compared to 2021. Community Healthcare Organisations attracted 1,099 complaints last year, which was 14 per cent fewer than in 2021; while there were 46 complaints about the National Ambulance Service.
The HSE has a Your Service, Your Say office, which encourages patients and service users to give feedback on their experience of hospitals and community healthcare outlets.
