As Nigeria joined the rest of the world to mark this year’s World Mental Health Day, the executive secretary of the National Human Rights Commission , Tony Ojukwu, has urged the government to give effect to the National Mental Health Act in other to enhance realisation of Mental Health Rights in the country.
Represented by the deputy director, investigation , Iheme Richmond, the executive secretary said the Mental Health Act reaffirms mental health as a human right.
In his remarks, the public health emergencies advisor, World Health Organization , Alexander Chimbaru, said mental health is a basic human right for all as everyone, everywhere has the right to the highest attainable standard of mental health.
