Analysis by KenDilanianNBC: Manafort sentence highlights unequal treatment of poor, minority defendants.

—a sharp downward departure from guidelines that called for up to 24 years—is being viewed by legal experts as a glaring example of unusual treatment. It highlights the disparate punishments meted out to poor defendants of color, but it's also an outlier even by the standards of similar white collar schemes, experts say.

"That was unprecedented,"said Joyce Vance, a former U.S. Attorney in Alabama."Most white collar defendants, whether or not they are actually repentant, are typically smart enough to tell the court how sorry they are."Judge Ellis even told Manafort before passing sentence that he"was surprised I did not hear you express regret."

Ellis noted that"the law is very clear that in sentencing, a court must consider the entire individual, not just the individual and his crime-committing activities." But special counsel Robert Mueller's office said in its own sentencing memo that no case really compared. Reacting to the news, defense lawyers contrasted Manafort's sentence with those of their own less privileged clients. And legal experts saw a larger theme of injustice.

KenDilanianNBC Surprised he had to serve any prison time at all. In the Trump Troupe, there are just a few people who are accountable for their for their behavior. 'Spoiled kids' The judge just played the political game with them.

KenDilanianNBC I do not understand why the press keeps saying 48 months and not 4 years.

KenDilanianNBC Using “Manafort” is a poor MSM excuse. The sentencing guidelines and treatment for minorities & poor has been unequal for decades. Money has always “talked” and very little has changed since.

KenDilanianNBC Don’t compare apples to oranges. How many poor people do you see commit tax evasion and bank fraud? And don’t state non violent drug offenses, because they still hurt other people. Woe is the victim hood of America.

KenDilanianNBC This Idaho Falls 12-years-old, who lived in a trailer park, was viciously beaten and arrested by Idahogov IdahoGOP police for NO CRIME while, Roger Stone complains when FBI say 'Sir' and 'Ma'am' to him and his wife for multiple felonies. RogerStone

KenDilanianNBC White Justice at its best. A complete miscarriage of justice. Shame on Judge Clueless for his disrespect for the special counsel, the prosecutors, and the American people. DISGRACEFUL.

KenDilanianNBC

KenDilanianNBC No. Stop. There is no sentence disparities among black youth that don't file FARA properly and evade taxes while doing work for Ukraine.

KenDilanianNBC You mean our judicial system is unfair? Shocker!

KenDilanianNBC It’s not a race thing, it’s a status thing. Not hard to understand... quit race baiting.
