Labor will ask the ATO whether its treatment of public servant whistleblowers is up to standard.

Mr Boyle raised allegations in a Four Corners report in April that in 2017 some ATO Adelaide office staff were instructed to seize funds from the bank accounts of taxpayers assessed to owe the ATO money, regardless of their personal circumstances.

The Tax Office is facing calls for curbs on the 'draconian' powers it uses to target small businesses. "However, the case itself has become a focal point for the larger discussion about whistleblowing in all sectors including the public service," he said.
