Cancer virus vaccine take-up varies widely

Media playback is unsupported on your deviceOne in three girls in some parts of the UK did not have their full vaccination at school against HPV, the virus that can cause cervical cancer, in 2017-18.

Girls who did not receive a vaccine at school were encouraged to speak to their GP and arrange an appointment as they are entitled to it until they are 18.Emmeline Collin survived cervical cancer and is keen for daughter Lucy to receive the HPV vaccine "I have personal experience in how potentially devastating cervical cancer can be," she said."I was very lucky I was treated early."

School administrator Mrs Collin said girls needed to know the vaccine would protect them in the future.

I wish I could’ve had HPVjab wouldn’t have had cervix cells burned off. Not about sex but survival. People lose their minds coz it involves fannies. Wouldn’t be this fuss if it affected dicks same way. 14 is late to talk about sex she’s sure as hell talking about it at school.

Actually had a patient who hadn't had the jab. She was still eligible for the vaccine as she wasn't yet sexually active but unfortunately as she was above the age range she would have to pay £400 for this. What uni student has £400 lying around. Absolutely ridiculous.

I'm a white teacher and my students are stuck with me! I do my best to explain the importance of all vaccinations and I follow up the paperwork to make sure kids don't fall through the cracks. BME kids don't seem to have a problem taking information from me.

I thinks schools should also educate the parents from BAME background.

Probably because their parents want them to stay alive and unharmed. The jab has killed or rendered sterile many young girls.

They intend to keep their virgin till marriage? Could this be the wisdom being avoided in stead of a vaccine you don't know the long term effects of on the reproductive systems of people because it's only been around for lesser of 20yrs? 0 population agenda much?

99% of cervical cancer is caused by HPV. I would prefer a conversation with my 12yo about sexual health now over cancer treatment options in the future.

Well your report this morning showed a Mum day she doesn’t want her 14 ye old having it because she doesn’t want to have the sexual health talk. Poor parenting. If her child was to get cervical cancer it’s purely her fault

The vaccine is available to all girls in that age group. Why is it a race issue if more white girls are actually taking up the offer of the jab? It’s completely irrelevant. I’m white and have never had the vaccine due to being ill the day my college offered it, things happen.

Parents should have the discussion about sex with their kids and save their lives.. Simple!!!

Divisive bullshit again. The young girl says 'its white people talking about it' that shouldn't mean to her that it's anything sinister. The UK is a majority white country the majority of most activities will be done by white people, including talking about HPV.
