Judge Carli Kierny cited Nika Nikoubin’s ongoing mental health struggles as a reason she was offered probation in Texas.

Nika Nikoubin, 23, was indicted on attempted murder and other charges forShe pleaded guilty to two counts of false imprisonment with the use of a deadly weapon.

Nikoubin told the judge she had been raped when she was 18 years old and she “did not fully realize the impact that this experience had on me and my mental health deteriorated.” She also claimed she had been in a mental health facility for 10 days prior to meeting Trevino at the hotel.She stabbed Trevino in the neck while having sex. She blindfolded him prior to the stabbing.

He previously told investigators he had “chosen to forgive” her, but would leave it to the law to determine the consequences. Nikoubin told law enforcement she had stabbed her date with a pink kitchen knife for revenge over the death of Qasem Soleimani in 2020. When asked why she stabbed Trevino, she told them she had done it out of “spite and revenge.”
