In Saskatchewan, 1.2 million hectares have burned this year, almost three times the 10-year average of 442,000 hectares.

It’s been “a busy season” for wildfires in the province, according to SPSA vice-president of operations Steve Roberts.So far this year, 370 wildfires have been reported. The 10-year average is 415, and the five-year average is 312.So far, 1.2 million hectares have burned this year, almost three times the 10-year average of 442,000 hectares.Most of these fires have been caused by humans, rather than lightning, he added.
