Ex-smoker Dave Rolfe is cancer-free after a tumour was detected early at a check-up.

By Sarah-Jane Bungay & Dawn LimbuAn ex-smoker who had a tumour removed from his lung said he is relieved that a health check caught the tumour early.The programme aims to find lung cancer at an early stage in former smokers aged 55-74.

"I [went] along totally ignorant about the fact that I had a tumour growing on my lung - and thank goodness I did," he said.looks at how well your lungs are working, in order to diagnose lung cancer as early as possible.There are often no symptoms of lung cancer at an early stage, according to the NHS

A week after his health check, Mr Rolfe said he was shocked when he received a phone call to confirm that a tumour had been found.
