Senator Francis Tolentino on Saturday urged the new leadership of the Department of Health (DOH) to collaborate with the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) to help farmers with the country's problem with African Swine Flu (ASF) and Avian Influenza Flu.

Senator Francis Tolentino on Saturday urged the new leadership of the Department of Health to collaborate with the Bureau of Animal Industry to help farmers with the country's problem with African Swine Flu and Avian Influenza Flu.

“Pwede po bang magtulungan ang Department of Health at Bureau of Animal Industry? Para naman siguro etong kakulangan sa bakuna sa ating mga poultry products at sa ating mga baboy ay matulungan natin ang ating mga magsasaka,” he said. Tolentino mentioned that during his recent visit to Pampanga, he talked to some hog raisers and poultry operators who are willing to directly purchase vaccines for the sake of maintaining their respective livelihoods. However, the number of doses from BAI will not be enough to cover all the animals on their farms.
