A total of 9,107 fresh coronavirus infections were recorded in the country from May 29 to June 4, 2023, data from the Department of Health (DOH) showed on Monday.

This is the lowest number of new COVID-19 cases in five weeks, according to GMA News Research, and the second straight week of declining infections.

Recent data from the Health Department also showed 559 severe and critical COVID-19 cases admitted to hospitals as of June 4. This was 10.6% of the total coronavirus admissions and the highest in 20 weeks.At least 397 or 18.9% of the 2,099 intensive care unit beds were in use, marking the lowest utilization in two weeks and the sixth straight week of over 300 occupied ICU beds.

As for vaccinations, the agency said it would still not be able to generate the latest numbers “due to the ongoing migration of the Vaccine Information Management System by the DICT .”
