Residents in the town of Alice Springs are leaving in droves because they no longer feel safe amid the high rate of crime, according to Alice Springs Mayor Matt Paterson.

“We need to go and introduce alcohol management plan straight away, and we also need more resources such as police and health workers in hospital,” he told

Sky News Australia.“Those two services are completely under-resourced, so if something does continue to go wrong, then you know who knows what will happen.”
