UPDATE: An armed man experiencing a mental health crisis was critically injured in a deputy-involved shooting in Magnolia Thursday, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said.

– An investigation is underway after an armed man experiencing a mental health crisis was critically injured in a deputy-involved shooting in Magnolia Thursday, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies were called to a home in Oak Crossing at around 12:45 a.m. A man reportedly gave deputies a description of someone who he said was trying to trespass and was outside of his home. According to investigators, deputies were met by an armed man in his 60′s when they arrived at the scene. Investigators said they later realized the armed man, who actually called deputies, gave them his own description. Authorities said the man was waving his gun outside and refused when they asked him to put his gun down.

The man was shot in the abdomen by deputies and was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in The Woodlands in critical condition, MCSO said. He reportedly had to undergo surgery but is expected to survive.This is a developing story. Check back here for more updates as they become available.
