However, it could also have become lodged in a vehicle’s tire and anybody who has travelled along the highway in the past few weeks is encouraged to check their tires.
WA’s Chief Health Officer Dr Andrew Robertson called an emergency press conference on Friday afternoon where he urged people to stay away from the tiny radioactive capsule.The capsule is smaller than a 10-cent piece but could still cause potentially serious health consequences.Dr Roberston said the radiation emitted from the capsule was “reasonable” and equivalent to receiving 10 X-rays in one hour if you came within one metre of it.
