Google layoffs in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa could take months to complete, according to a memo from executive Matt Brittin

"We know you want to understand what this mean for you, your fellow Googlers and our teams in this region," Brittin wrote in a memo reviewed by Insider."For the reasons outlined by Sundar, the decision has been made to reduce our workforce. Outside of the US, this process will take longer due to local laws and practices."Today is a difficult day at Google. Especially for those of our colleagues in the US who have received the news that they will be leaving the company.

While no Googlers in EMEA will leave today, our region will be impacted. There is a process to determine where further role reductions will happen, subject to local information and consultation requirements. Your Country Manager, together with your Tech Lead where appropriate, will oversee the process in your country with the support of POps. You will hear more from your Country Managers about this shortly.
