Opinion: Anyone who has spent any time on the street has seen homelessness visibly manifest in every corner of Toronto. The question is why is this and what are we doing to address it?

Because of COVID, these spaces stopped being walk-in and necessarily became available only by calling a centralized access system. We’re feeling their absence today.

. The egregious plan appears to use the money of a predominantly low-income, racialized TTC ridership to subsidize the removal of homeless people from buses and streetcars. But … removal to where?

As usual, the provincial did nothing for so many years I bet they even enjoy it.

Money. Of the three National Rent Rankings I have saved — July, November and December 2022 — Toronto’s consistently had the country’s second highest, only behind Vancouver. Continuously increasing. July V: $2,412 T: $2,192 Nov. V: $2,576 T: $2,478 Dec. V: $2,633 T: $2,532

Loss of confidence in politicians let alone provincial government to properly govern the people of Ontario properly.

Now you see it. It's been urban decay since the Liberals took power

Let’s reduce taxes - it’s the number one expense for all Canadians!!

People on fixed incomes are not provided a livable amount. Fixed incomes do not provide enough for market rent. People can't afford current market rent because of legislature keeping fixed incomes in abject poverty. Remember that interview we did in 2020?

I would start with a New Mayor.

Is homeless the proper term for a squatter who comes to Toronto from somewhere else and sets up a tent in a park?

What are we doing? We're increasing our taxes by 5.5%. I mean come on now. That's a steal of a deal. I mean think about it. More corners in Toronto are getting built more people living on them

The Ontario government is doing everything in its power to make it worse.

We could use some military bases that no longer are operational, reduce politicians salaries to address social issue as they're being paid to fail year after year.

Thanks JustinTrudeau and the liberal_party.

U R a country in a self-destructive mode. For now, things are not so critical that majority is affected. But the more you go this insane growth way, the more you'll be approaching critical mass of discontent, which is already prevent among your ppl. DE GROWTH is the future of all

Giving US weapons manufacturers tens of billions of dollars.

It's largely white people that are homeless, that's why no one gives a shit. They aren't represented by the LGBTQ+, BLM, and dont identify as a person of colour, so they don't have the resources available

The first step would be to do a one night city wide count of the total homeless population, to see the scope of the problem. The city proposed this once before but leftist councilors and activists objected because they worried the count might be small.

homelessness should be a provincial responsibility addressed by making housing affordable everywhere by regulating rental markets, building more social market and supporting private housing development.

500,000 immigrants, 700,000 foreign students, 750,000 TFWs a year has dire consequences.
