The PM says his healthcare is 'a personal choice', as a union leader urges him to 'come clean'.

Ms Cullen, the general secretary of the Royal College of Nursing, said public servants "ought to be clear with the public whether or not you are using private health cover".Mr Streeting said the PM's answer to the question about his healthcare showed him to be someone who did not understand the biggest crisis in the NHS history.

Mr Sunak was interviewed as senior doctors warn of a NHS on a knife edge, with health workers striking over pay and some hospitals in crisis.

Anyone with decent health insurance at work uses private medical. I'm a Customer Service manager, I'm pretty ok with the leader of my country having access to the same/better health care. Get a grip.

As if this is even a question

Of course he does. With his and his wife’s money they will have the best of the best (no ringing the Surgery as soon as it opens, being placed in a queue and hoping you can get a telephone appointment)

Oh no. I’m sure this multi-millionaire (man of the people, who doesn’t know how to fill a car with petrol) attends an overworked, under resourced GP clinic like the rest of us.

He refuses to admit to a lot of things, how have we go.a billionaire running the country and trying to make out he understands what people are going through, hasn’t got a clue, out of touch with reality

Pompous prick

Refuses to say because he does

Pointless and irrelevant interview by the very much a witch hunt

British bullying corporation. Stop the mandatory funding of the bbc. Outdated propaganda organisation. Champagne socialists. Woke. Virtue signallers. Etc etc etc. (except for radio 3). 📻❤️

Why would Millionaire Sunak with his Billionaire wife use anything else!!!

Of course he does

I wonder how many other millionaire's the will ask if they use the NHS. Utterly pointless question

It's obvious he does. Most of the tory lot do and you'll never get an honest from a tory

What difference. All this crap because he is rich. His policies matter not his wealth

Multimillionaire and Zuckerberg hopeful Rishi Sunak all but admits he sees a private GP, as he is unable to confess to the fact said GP is actually a mechanic for his android behaving ass... *

So?

Does it matter if he does?

Of course he does he’s too” posh” not to what’s worse is he won’t say

That’ll be a yes then.

Nobodies business but his own. BBC upset they haven’t got a gotcha!

Yes because he was so lucid on everything else, seriously why is he PM?

Photo-opportunity Sunak making pathetic attempt to converse, serving hot food to a homeless, penniless, jobless man at the drop-in canteen: 'Are you in business'. Says it all about this Government.Totally divorced from reality & any sense of care. Be gone.

If I had the amount of money he had I would go private as well.

Does it matter? Blair did and I bet Starmer does

He's the picture of health and probably doesn't need to. Not everyone is on the phone to their doctor on a regular basis.

He does.

And that matters because? I don't like Marmite, but if I ran the factory producing Marmite I would still work hard.

Why does it matter? The man can afford private care, he's worked hard for his wealth. He should not be ashamed of it. I'll do the same if I could afford it.

Irrelevant.

Why should he...it's highly private special category data

I’d like to hope he does and others that have the money to pay for private healthcare, freeing up the NHS for people who can’t afford it to get free healthcare

He’s the PM he’ll get the best & anyway who do you know that wouldn’t use a private GP if they had the money to do so. It was a silly question from bbclaurak

His heads too narrow. Makes me very suspicious ..

Of course he does!!!👩🏿‍🦱

ofcourse he does

Let’s hope he DOES use a private GP. He can afford it and by doing this he frees up NHS resource for others

Obviously he does if he can’t say “NO” outright

Now ask Keir Starmer.

Detest the guy and everything he stands for, and he clearly does have private medical, but I don’t care either way. Can the media stop looking for headline / clickbait sound bites and start asking questions that actually force Government to address issues?

Normal doesn’t apply to Rishi, he needs pixi sized doctors utensils, imagine the fear when he sees the size of a normal reflex hammer

Of course he does!

The jealousy of the left .I'm sure most people if they had the money his family earned would go private

He clearly does, but that's not the issue. The issue is he's heading up the government which has virtually stripped timely access to primary care for many people, which he could do something about regardless of his personal circumstances but has chosen not to.

🤔 your never see Schofe waiting in a NHS doctors surgery thismorning hollywills NoOnePutsSchofieldInAQueue

Of course he goes private and probably reclaim’s it on expenses

😂😂😂

Why the fk wouldn't he?

That's a yes then.

I am using...so what

He looks bewildered by the poors

That’ll be a yes then! And so he should….

The bitter truth. Without being told the PM is definitely using private GP.

If he did use the NHS he would proudly say he does. So he’s answered the question.

He would be better just admitting it, I would use one if I had one nearby and could afford it. No different to using a private physio really

That will be a YES then

He probably has a private postman.

Of course he does and he has the money to - why is this news ffs

Does a bear poo in the woods

It really is of no consequence

Why is this even a news story 🤦🏻‍♀️

Of course he bloody does!

If he doesn’t then given his wealth, he’s not using up the vital resources of the NHS as I assume your ‘point’ is based on him using private medical care!

I would if I was on his money. Can’t even get an NHS appointment it’s sh1t!

Let's face it he is a politician.. if he uses an NHS doctor/GP, he would gladly say it.

So he does then. I would If I was able.

A little bit of honesty is all that is required

He’s a billionaire - he’s probably got his own personal doctor.

RishiSunak uses NHS services as much as that poor homeless man “works in business” 🤷🏻‍♂️

I would hope that someone - anyone - with that amount of money would go private, and leave the NHS for the folks that can't afford private health care.

I’d be more interested in the Russian donors and how his Russian business infosys is doing since no one else is allowed to trade with Russia except him.

I don’t actually care if he uses the NHS or not… I’m much more interested in him… 1 allowing the (non)independent bodies to negotiate with unions 2 creating a legal route for all refugees 3 sacking all his MPs who have taken bribes/dodgy donations 4 calling a general election

I imagine a lot of bbc employees can opt into private healthcare though their employer. A lot of companies offer it. You get seen a lot quicker and it helps free up the NHS. He should have asked Laura the same question

Of course he does . He's extremely wealthy .

Of course, RishiSunak refused to say if he uses a private GP, the man forbidden by basic Tory ethics from being honest or speaking truthfully.

He does and that is fine with his wealth. It also shows how disconnected he is from the NHS and how he gives no fucks.

Who cares weather the PM'S is or what he's probably doing, anyhow if he's with private health care it's he's business and not the BBC'S. I table a motion that the BBC should be privatised, scrap the TV licence

Do you care?

No one else's business but his.

Never a simple answer

If I had money I would use private health care 100%. I hope he does have it and uses frequently.

So he does - because he knows the NHS is not ‘good enough’ for him and his family. There should be a law that every politician should have to use state schools, public transport and the NHS exclusively. Things would soon improve.

More to the point, he should support more people making the same choice by making health insurance premium and private school fees tax-deductible.

Educated racist whites hate this man, they resent his colour in a position of power.

Don’t care if he does, up to him what he spending his money on and someone in his position should be paying for it anyway.

Refuses to say whether…..

Pretty obvious the “innovative solutions” to NHS problem will use private sector. Run down the NHS and slowly replace it with private healthcare has always been their plan.

A sign he doesn't want to have to say he doesn't. Of course he doesn't.

RishiSunak if it is your personal choice, don't be in-charge of the country. It is like a couch potato running an athletic club.

of course he does, fucking hell.

So what if he does? I’m not a Sunak fan but this is silly.

Of course he does. Why are all politicians lying avoiding pricks? No wonder they can’t be trusted

Who cares

Surely most people would if they could afford it. The NHS is broken and needs a complete overhaul to fix things. No matter how much money you throw at the situation it wont work whilst its being run like a charity instead of a business.

Of course he does

Because he does. Why would he lower himself to a GPS surgery when he can have it on tap day and night with no waiting lists etc for him.

Let him be, is not like that would make him a worse Tori. Still same disappointment. Conservatives have hit rock bottom: cheat, lies, corruption, most of all hurt and deception 🤢

Entitled prick! partygate partygatefines covidfines coviddead pinchergate tractorgate borisinprison nevertrustatory strikes

Why does it matter? If he uses it, he should just say. If he can afford to lessen the burden on the NHS, so be it. I don’t get why people are getting their knickers in a twist on both sides of this argument.

So of course he does. If he didn't he would say so.

Of course he does! Why even ask!

Of course he does he’s worth an absolute mint there’s no way he’s waiting on GP waiting lists and doing phone consultations like the rest of the plebs.

I hope he does. He can afford it and it frees up normal appointments for others. Can’t understand why the lefties want yo use the fact that he might against him.

Fionamills1 Top dollar private health cover all paid for by tax payers like all of them

He's clearly very ashamed of this fact! the bogus prime minister has more schoolboy ego than his political values. Very worrying.

Don’t even see why this is relevant so what if he doesn’t

Of course he does, he had vast wealth and does not give a flying fuck about the working class

Its a standard protocol I learned during my school days* :Its not safe to speak about health related things of people who are at heigh position the whole country will be in danger or the enemy country use this info

He hasn’t been elected. Why this Davos placed Indian man is allowed to keep destroying Britain is the real enigma. Of course he loves immigrants and uses a private GP and has the best of everything. His wife inherited a billion pounds from her father’s dgital spying company.

Laura Kuenssberg trying to be ‘clever’ and catching out PM - she sadly failed.

What a dumb question. Any sensible, successful person will have private health insurance.

Of course he does 😂😂😂 are people thick?

I use a private gp, it’s effectively a voluntary tax whats the issue ?

Should you ask every politician that now comes on you program the same question.

Of course he does so do all his family, friends and the entire Tory government.

We know he does

Why should he say there are loads of people with private insurance

I don’t entirely understand his reason to avoid answering the question🤷🏼‍♀️

Who cares ask prober questions

Guarantee you know he uses private health!

I'd like to think that as a Government, they're at least smart enough to give the leader of the country private healthcare.

I think the point is he can’t just answer a yes or no question with a yes or a no. He could always answer in the affirmative and qualify with an intellectual argument but he’s a bit sh!t

Nice to see all those with private cover supporting him. 😂😂. That said, he did give me £21k in handouts because I rent a small business property. Swings & roundabouts. I give him 2 months then he’s out. 👍

Why not just say yes? Could even spin it to make a positive political statement 'I can afford private health care because I have worked harder in my life and now reaping the rewards, you too could acheive this with more dedication in your field'

The BIASED BROADCASTING CORPORATION with the things that really matter. Still it's on the Labour Party campaign trail

Of course he does. They don’t let someone in charge of running the country go to a local NHS GP. That would be ridiculous

Using private healthcare companies to do things like hip operations means the taxpayers don't just pay for the hip operation, but the hip operation AND a profit to the company (often foreign) who do the operation. These companies then often donate to Tories.

AKA Rishi Sunak uses a private GP

We are working class people but as part of my husband’s work employment package had private health care of course we used it.

He just doesn't care

i do not normally stick for a tory..but who really cares....many people use private ...as long as he funds nhs in a way that helps them then fine

Why do we need him to actually say it? Of course he has private health care.

Erm. So?

Why wouldn’t he? Lots of us do. We have to because the NHS is so poor

I hope he does Otherwise what's the point of accumulating allocation wealth If all wealthy people used private health care that would be good

Get him out!

He uses one in Harley Street

We’ll take that as a YES Sunak. Definite admission of guilt

Who cares? I'm far more interested in how his govt manages the health service we use.

Who cares if he does and besides it’s quite obvious that he does

Private GP ? Is that a thing ❓

He has multi millions in the bank....a billionaire wife....he could literally buy every GP practice in the UK....burn them to the ground and p*iss on the ashes. This is the type of person he is.

It’s like saying to people, “how dare you buy a house with your own money, you should rent”

Of course, he does, I am not wealthy but I have a company healthcare plan so I like so many others also go private.

Who cares? Is this really what the bbc consider newsworthy?

The nature of that question and the fact that you believe it is worth a headline says a lot about the institution.

It's irrelevant and not a clever question either

Imagine writing a headline so dumb it makes everyone, left and right, collectively hate mainstream journalists more than the fucking prime minister!

If he has any sense he’ll be using one! I do because my GP is a waste of oxygen!

Sunak does not subscribe to anything where he might meet any oiks.

He needs to be honest and tell the brits that their leader doesn’t have time to wait on a list to get his tonsils checked. Honesty shows strength against those that will jealously attack the answer. Refusal to answer will make them attack and show weakness at the same time

I would if I had his wealth so of course he goes private…like anyone else that can afford it… No big deal really is it?

He obviously does

Stop trying to violate his privacy - health choices are private ! Oh yes … BBC isn’t big on respecting privacy ! Stick to pressurising him to commit to financing our NHS!

How many guesses do we need?

All he had to do was say yes though! Let's have some honesty. 1 less person trying to get a GP appointment on the NHS.

Course he does 🙄

Well obviously he does then no great surprise there surly!

He won't coz he's a k.n.o.b jockey

Aliens don't need healthcare

A sneaky little snob that one & crooked with it. Not fit to be PM.

It's a fairly simple question, why doesn't he say? Of course he can afford it, of course he uses it. Its less about wealth and more about honesty. Someone with integrity would just say, 'yes'. This is the issue a lot of commenters here are missing.

What I find more astonishing is that neither the PM or his team seemed to have prepared a better answer for this. Any junior Press Officer would know this question was bound to come up.

So what if he does? Plenty of ordinary people opt into or have access to private healthcare through their employer. He can clearly afford to go private, so what’s the issue? Have you asked Kier Stamer? showing their bias once more BBC Health RishiSunak NHS

of course he does, you think him or any family member will wait for any care when their millionaires, he doesn't give a shit about the NHS

Yet he’s making decisions about services he won’t allow his own family to use ToryBrokenBritain

Did you ask the same question to Stammer too? Oops! I’m sorry I forgot for a second it’s BBC!!

I detest the bloke and the Tories but if I had his money , I’d have private healthcare.

Sunnyboy the billionaire, deciding what we the peasants need is more maths, not more money.

Me, my wife and my child all use private GPs. It means I am not clogging up our local GPs surgery and those that need can have better access.

The question is kinda meanlingless. Let's be honest. Anyone who can casually affords would choose private GP. The manpower of NHS system is so limited, and takes so much time to get to see doctors.

Course he does his wife is a millionaire don't forget

It literally doesn’t matter whether he goes private or not

£750 million in the bank answers that question..

Of course he does and I bet he puts it all on MP's expenses!

I'm no fan of him or his cronies but it's a private matter whether he does or doesn't use one

He gets the good maths 👍 bitofadonkey crooksinsuits

Of course.

Refuses to say means he does. If he had nothing to hide he would just say yes I use a local NHS doctor.

Sunny Sunak private health care.

Very cagey man this one. Do as I say, not as I do!

It doesn't matter anymore, Tory media have already begun pushing the narrative that the NHS is terrible, it's all those loony lefties fault and private healthcare is safer for the general public. The BBC encouraged this to happen by smearing the opposition as terrorists

That’s a yes then.

That’s a ‘yes’

That’s private.

Of course he does. Only a vet could handle those lugs

Of course he does

No need for GPs. If he listens to theresecoffey - he can just get meds from someone he knows.

He should be going private. If you can afford it this will take pressure off the nhs. Tealky people need to start getting a life 😂

The unelected oligarch with tax avoiding wife who broke lockdown laws he himself was instrumental in creating will surely use tax payer money to access private healthcare. Ironic that he will also destroy the public one.

Ask every mp if they have private health care . Ask your presenters the same question. I would if I could afford it !

Which basically means the answer is..... BBCLauraK SunakOut GeneralElectionNow ToriesOutNow

Of course he does

If you refuse a simple questions like this the answer is obvious

Which appears to have gotten him a lot more headlines than if he had been honest.

So fcuking what ? If I had his money then so would I. Ever stopped to think that people who go private lift the burden on the NHS? Imagine the outrage if he used the NHS with that money. The hypocrisy is vomit inducing.

Of course he does. Ridiculous to think otherwise.

Leave him alone, this is unnecessary, he's lot of other vital things to do during his time at office!

Have you asked Starmer the same? Or is this another Conservative-only mountain out of a mole hill from our 'trusted, impartial' national broadcaster?

Of course he will, I would if I could afford it too

who cares if he does, his choice, he's rich enough. The issue is the NHS not his private life, unless it's corrupt of course 😉

I wonder why…?🤔

Nobody will be surprised he goes private, he can afford it, so he should.

Surely the real question is how much stock does he own in private healthcare?

So his medical status isn’t relevant, but all of ours are. Got it.

Why does it matter

What a pr. - Simon Pegg.

Of course he does

SarahAndDC It's ok: we know.

So what ? The NHS can’t cope and we need a private health sector . Pure hypocrisy on the part of

“Healthcare is private and personal choice” Yet government demanded vaccine mandates this time last year
