Sunak tells health leaders 'bold and radical' action is needed to get NHS through crisis

Today Number 10 was the location for a special 'Saturday school' with Rishi Sunak as the sole student.

Government sources claim part of the PM's NHS education came from his own extended family who work in the health service: they told him all about its myriad problems over the Christmas break. Today's 'Saturday summit' was about solutions for the long term but the immediate problem for the NHS remains strikes.

The danger of that strategy is if his plan doesn't work, the PM will end up being the face of that failure. "These are difficult problems to fix though, so I think it's unlikely we'll have it sorted by the end of this winter," he said.

The main thing that the NHS needs is competent political leadership, something that it hasn't had for 12 years. The NHS isn't broken our politics is.

Far too many civil servants in Britain dealing with far too many regulations/bureaucratic processes then 50 years of public paying a pittance in social security. ADDS UP to a lack of funding Force public to triple their contributions and then pensions & NHS will have a chance

Maybe add some algebra to nursing training Perhaps if GP actually saw patients (ran for hills at start of pandemic)... They didn't sack thousands of care workers because they didn't take the jab... And everyone immune system wasn't screwed by Lockdowns or something else... A&E might be less busy? We used to have the best healthcare system in the world. Not enough Investment has been detrimental. It's in a terrible state. I think to myself, please don't let my family or myself get injured badly or sick during these times, It could spell the end 😢
